Our History

Walter J. Travis designed and completed our course almost 100 years ago in 1922.

Since then, we have hosted a number of championships, the oldest being the 1935 General Brock Open, which brought greats such as Walter Hagen, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, and Gene Sarazen.

Lookout Point has also been a place of long standing tradition, having only four PGA Head Professionals in its history. One Professional has been Gord McInnis Sr., who over the course of his forty-year career helped develop our membership, including champions and Hall of Fame Members such as Marlene Stewart Streit, Cathy Sherk, Anne Sharpe, and Bill Kozak. Anne has twice won the Ontario Ladies Championship and won the Ontario Senior Ladies in 1980. Both Marlene and Cathy went on to win many golf events including the Canadian and U. S. Women’s Amateur Championships. Their golf accomplishments have been recognized by their inductions into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame. Marlene was honoured by the world golf community by her induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame; the only Canadian to be so recognized. Marlene, Cathy and the late Gordon McInnis Sr., head professional at Lookout Point for over fifty years, have also been inducted into the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame.

This private 18 hole championship course is considered a Golfer’s Golf Course. Members and visitors alike agree that Lookout Point provides a real golf challenge with every round played.
